As a Procurement and Supply Officer, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Purchase bunker, fresh water, and ship supplies (e.g. lubricants, spare parts, food); identify reliable suppliers and build long-term partnerships
- Assess suppliers based on qualifications, quality, pricing, delivery timelines, and service standards
- Maintain and update supplier database; ensure compliance with company standards such as ISO/ISM
- Develop supply strategies aligned with the company’s supply plan to prevent shortages or overstock
- Monitor material usage, forecast procurement needs, and plan timely supply deliveries to vessels
- Coordinate bunkering and vessel supply operations to ensure efficient delivery and minimal delays
- Analyze procurement trends to identify cost-saving opportunities such as bulk deals or alternative sourcing
- Prepare procurement budgets and implement effective cost control measures
- Conduct regular supplier and pricing reviews to maintain competitiveness
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to MPA and PSA regulations
- Liaise with shipowners, agents, and freight forwarders to maintain high service standards
- Manage urgent supply needs, such as critical maintenance parts, and ensure prompt logistics execution
Requirements:
- Diploma or higher in supply chain management, maritime studies, mechanical engineering, or related fields preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain management; maritime, port, or logistics industry experience preferred
- Familiarity with fuel procurement (bunkering) and ship supply markets is an advantage
- Strong negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms
- Proficient in Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP) for procurement data analysis and strategy optimization
- Knowledge of MPA/PSA procurement regulations and port operations
- Experience in ship supply procurement and understanding of local supplier networks is preferred
- Possession of relevant certifications such as CIPS, CSCP, or maritime-related qualifications like ISM is an advantage
