As a Marine Underwriter - Facultative, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Assess risk exposures and evaluate risk quality to determine appropriate insurance coverage, including risk pricing and related underwriting requirements.
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities to expand the portfolio.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned, particularly those related to reinsurance operations.
- Conduct market research and monitor reinsurance trends to support the development of effective business strategies.
- Ensure accurate administration of all transacted business, including processing endorsements, maintaining records in the IT system, and generating necessary reports.
- Provide expert advice on claims-related matters.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve overall company objectives.
- Perform desk-based risk evaluations and proactively seek clarifications or additional information from cedants or brokers when necessary.
- Analyze exposure, determine pricing, and set underwriting terms and conditions to maintain long-term profitability.
- Review and manage the portfolio to optimize performance in alignment with the company’s risk appetite.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in the insurance/reinsurance industry, with regional exposure and strong market knowledge.
- Familiarity with Treaty Business underwriting is advantageous; professional certifications such as ACII/FCII are preferred.
- Willingness to travel as required for business and client engagements.
